Summary
Myricetin (not to be confused with myricitrin) is a naturally derived polyphenol that is found in a wide variety of foods. The average person consumes 23 mg of Myricetin per day [1]. Myricetin is classed as supplement as it is a naturally occuring polyphenol.
Myricetin is prominantly found in bayberry extract [3] alongside other polyphenols (such as myricitrin and quercetin). Some of its effects are comparable to other flavonoids, however it seems to have a unique effect of enhancing endurance.
At human equivilant doses of 250-600mg, Myricetin has a potent endurance enhancing effect, doubling endurance in 3 weeks for rodents in one study [2], via multiple mechanisms (PGC-1α, PGC-1b, SIRT1, ERRa, Myoglobin, Troponin1, etc). It is one of the only known polyphenols with such a potent physically enhancing effect, yet it is pretty novel.
In addition, Myricetin is a nootropic by modulating CAMKII/BDNF/NGF/TrkB/COMT, and it also has been shown in studies to be anxiolytic, antidepressant, and anti-stress.
